This is a hinge support plate designed for 93-02 Firebird and Camaro.
These cars are prone to having the fiberglass of the door crack and the hinges fail due to the weight of the doors. The purpose of this hinge is to add more area for the weight of the door to rest rather than the small area provided by the hinge.
I have had this installed on my car in order to test the piece and when installed with a new hinge the door has shut perfectly after adjustment and has not come out of adjustment.
These are made of 309 Stainless Steel and should be painted if the car is exposed to salty environments. If it is garage kept and only sees rain they will handle nicely through the weather.
I HIGHLY recommend that these are installed carefully as to not damage the door during install from binding/improper support while the hinge is disconnected.
